Chyna popped by my studio last week to update her digitals. Of course I couldn’t let her get away that easily. After getting some window-lit shots for her I shot a bit more with the prismatic window film in an effort to better understand it. Since it’s both reflective and transparent I can get the appearance of multiple lights with just one strobe depending on how I position it to a bright light source (such as a window). An added layer of complexity is that it reflects one color and (green in this example) while it turns everything you see through it into another color (magenta). For example, the green light in the shot above is actually just the reflection of a window. The only light I used in creating the image was an ungelled strobe on Chyna, who looked magenta when looking through the film.
I wrapped the shoot by wrapping Chyna in a trash bag that she brought with her (that her mom likes to use to cover her clothing), and creating more images for my One Man’s Trash series.
