Chroma (Lighting with Color): The Video

50.00

In this tutorial, portrait and commercial photographer Nick Fancher demonstrates his colored lighting techniques. The video begins with an overview of color theory and basic corrective gel use, before quickly moving into more creative uses of colored light, including:

  • building an image, one layer of color at a time

  • blocking versus blending two colors of light

  • intentionally creating shadows as placeholders for light

  • creating multi-colored shadows

  • integrating gobos to add drama to an image

  • using one light to create a duotone image

  • implementing shutter drag to add movement to an image

  • lighting with projectors

As each technique is demonstrated, raw files, camera settings, and light settings will be displayed in the corner of the screen. Nick will also show how he handles color grading the images in Lightroom.
